 Artist Statement

I am interested in creating works around urban themes. I use inner city                movements to illustrate the way in which we, as individuals and as a community, approach the challenges of everyday life. I incorporate these movements in my work through contemporary dance forms - breath, text, and vocalization. I investigate race, sex, and personal identity conflicts via gesture, language, popular urban dances (Hip-Hop, Club, and R&B), and a dialogue evoked between the performer and the audience.
